The Mental Health Specialist shall provide the following supportive mental / behavioral health services:
Provide support to Kingsley House’s Early Learning Services (ELS) staff, primarily classroom teachers and supervisors, to support the behavioral health and well-being of young students.
Conduct classroom observations as requested, and discuss observations with appropriate ELS team members for ongoing quality assurance.
Provide play therapy services for student participants of ELS programs as deemed appropriate.
Inform ELS staff of the techniques used with students in therapy.
Engage parents in all aspects of student care; provide information about therapeutic recommendations; and work with parents to support behavioral health and well-being in the home environment.
Provide filial therapy to parents to support therapeutic approaches used with children, as appropriate.
Utilize counseling strategies and tools assumed effective working with populations that share similar needs as child participants.
Make referrals for collateral or other wrap around services, as appropriate.
Document counseling support activities at least weekly.
Coordinate weekly schedule and maintain contact with the Health Manager or designee by phone, or in-person communication as requested, returning calls and emails in a timely manner within at least 48 hours.
Mental health background and licensed play therapist preferred/desirable. Related fields (e.g. psychology, licensed counselors etc.).
